Weekly Reflection #1: Drones at BHS

Updated: Oct 11, 2018

I've made a quick post about the different drones and features of said drones here at Burlington High School.

Different Types of Drones At HelpDesk:

Parrot Mambos:

The Parrot Mambos are a small and cost effective way of experiencing drone flight. They are about the size of your palm and are very light. The Mambos are in the range of about $115 we have around 5-6 of them here at Burlington High School Helpdesk. They are fairly easy to fly and can be coded and flown using apps like Tynker or Parrot's FreeFlightMini.

The DJI Mavic Pro:

The DJI Mavic Pro is definitely a more professional level drone. With a cost around $800, the Mavic provides an array of features that blow the Mambos out of the water. We have 2 of them here at the Help Desk and they are awesome. They have the ability to shoot 4k video, a gimbal for the camera, better stability controls, heavy duty build quality, and many automatic and follow features. We utilize the Mavic through the DJI Go 4 app. Through this app, we can get a real time view of the camera on the drone, check our height, our speed, change into sport mode, and even have the drone return to the selected home point. Overall the Mavic is a better option for people looking for a more professional level drone, that can shoot quality video and will deliver a reliable and professional experience time and time again.
